Our mental health is so important and taking care of our mental well-being is often a neglected area of health and well-being.
We are aware of the importance of taking care of our physical health through diet and exercise, for example. However, it is not uncommon to ignore our moods, feelings, negative emotional states, distorted thinking patterns, or fail to understand when we are psychologically distressed and why.
Yet, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem, which means that paying attention to and looking after our mental health is essential. The first steps to improving your mental health begins right now by recognising that you are thinking, acting and feeling in ways that are upsetting or limiting your life.
The second step is seeking professional help. These are often the most difficult steps to take but the most important, as they are the beginning of your journey towards recovery. Psychological therapy can provide you with the space to explore your difficulties and work towards addressing your thoughts, feelings and behavioural patterns that are causing distress, in a setting that is non-judgemental, safe, supportive and encouraging.
Psychological therapy not only addresses what is difficult but focuses on your strengths, positive qualities and resilience too. It is about enhancing and facilitating change, and building hope. It would be a privilege for me to support you towards a healthier state of mind.
