Therapy

Highly Specialist Psychological Therapy

I am trained across a range of evidence based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapies and humanistic therapies. However, I will tailor psychological therapy to your own individual needs, which means that I draw upon a range of theories and models to help you understand your difficulties and assist you in addressing them.

My therapeutic approach is built upon a person centred ethos and philosophy, which means that you will be treated with dignity, respect, and experience an atmosphere of warmth, non-judgement, empathy and understanding. I adopt a reflective practitioner stance which means I will regularly review your therapy with you. I offer therapy for adults aged over 18 years and the areas that I work with include but is not limited to:

mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, interpersonal problems, physical health problems impacting on mental wellbeing, grief, loss, adjustment problems, self-harm, alcohol misuse, anger issues, self-esteem,  stress, sexuality, and weight related issues impacting on mental health

What To Expect

Understandably you may have some questions about what psychological therapy entails or what to expect. Please feel free to contact me to discuss and I will endeavour to answer any questions you may have. I greatly appreciate what a big step and commitment it can be, so it is important to ask questions beforehand so that you can be sure you are making the right decision and choosing the right therapist.

Format and Fees

Initial Consultation £80

This first appointment is an opportunity to meet to discuss your difficulties and decide whether psychological therapy is right for you. It entails answering a range of questions in order to help both of us understand what your difficulties are, how they have developed and what factors are maintaining them. Most importantly, it enables you to meet me and decide whether you feel comfortable, listened to, respected and not judged in a negative light. At the end of the assessment your options will be discussed. It does not commit you to entering therapy. If it is agreed that entering therapy is the right way forward, your expectations and goals will be identified so that we are both in agreement as to the purpose of therapy going forward. Alternatively, if we agree that another type of support would be more beneficial, I will discuss that with you and signpost where possible.

Individual therapy sessions £80

If you decide to engage in regular therapy, each individual session will last approximately one hour. Attendance will be either weekly or fortnightly. Regular reviews are conducted to ensure that therapy is helping.

I am registered with BUPA, Vitality, AVIVA, AXA, WPA and H3. Please ensure that you have received authorisation form your insurance provider before making an appointment and have available all relevant information including excess fee amount.
